Circuit/System Testing

  1. Engine running, accessories OFF, measure and record the battery voltage at the battery terminals. The voltage should be between 12.6 and 15.0 V.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors of the appropriate control module.
  3. Ignition OFF and scan tool disconnected, open and close the driver door, and wait 1 minute. Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuits listed below and ground.
    • Terminal 8 X1 (AMP)
    • Terminal 38 X1 (DDR)
    • Terminal 38 X1 (HDD)
    • Terminal 10 X1 (HVAC)
    • Terminal 17 (IPC)
    • Terminal 8 X1 (NAV)
    • Terminal 7 X1 (RPA)
    • Terminal D (PPS)
    • Terminal S X1 (RCDLR EK2)
    • Terminal 19 (TVM)
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminals listed below and ground.
    • Terminal 4 X1 (AMP)
    • Terminal 44 X1 (DDR)
    • Terminal 44 X1 (HDD
    • Terminal 18 X1 HVAC)
    • Terminal 19 (IPC)
    • Terminal 4 X1 (NAV)
    • Terminal 1 X1 (RPA)
    • Terminal A (PPS)
    • Terminal H X1 (RCDLR EK2)
    • Terminal 20 (TVM)
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  5. If the circuits test normal, replace the appropriate control module.
