Installation Procedure

  1. Position the generator near the installed position.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  3. Connect the battery positive lead to the generator and install the generator output battery terminal nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the generator output battery terminal nut to 13 N.m (115 lb in).

  4. Press the protective boot on to the generator output BAT terminal.
  5. Connect the wiring harness connector to the generator.
  6. Position the generator to the generator bracket on the engine.
  7. Install the front generator mounting bolts (2,3), but do not tighten at this time.
  8. Install the rear generator mounting bolt (1). Tighten the bolts in the following order.

    Tighten: 

    1. Tighten the front generator mounting bolt (3) to 50 N.m (37 lb t).
    2. Tighten the front generator mounting bolt (2) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
    3. Tighten the rear generator mounting bolt (1) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  10. Install the bolt securing the power steering pressure hose bracket to the generator.

    Tighten:  Tighten the power steering pressure hose bracket nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  11. Install the accessory drive belt (3). Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory .
  12. Install the radiator fan assembly. Refer to Cooling Fan Replacement - Electric (LP1, LY7) or Cooling Fan Replacement - Electric (LS2) .
  13. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  14. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
