Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the shifter knob. Refer to Transmission Control Lever Knob Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 5L50-E.
  3. Open the console door.

  5. Remove the hinge cover from the console bin. Pull at the rear of the cover to disengage the retainer.

  7. Remove the console cupholder and the ashtray.
  8. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement .

  10. Remove the console nuts.
  11. Remove the bolts retaining the front of the console to the I/P carrier.
  12. Lift the rear of the console slightly and pull rearward to release the front of the console from under the I/P carrier.
  13. Disconnect the electrical connector from the electrical accessory plug.

  15. Unscrew to remove the console electrical accessory plug retainer from the console electrical accessory plug housing.
  16. Remove the electrical accessory plug housing from the console.
  17. Using a flat-bladed tool, disengage the lamp from the retainer. Route the lamp through the hole in the console bin.
  18. Remove the console from the vehicle.
