Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. IMPORTANT: Use the J 24319-B  in order to separate all the tie rods and ball joints.
  3. Remove the nut (2) from the outer tie rod ball stud (3).

  5. Use the J 24319-B  in order to remove the outer tie rod ball stud from the steering knuckle.
  6. IMPORTANT: Do not reuse the nut.
  7. Remove the tie rod end from the shaft by loosening the jam nut.
  8. Remove the outer tie rod end from the relay rod.

  10. Inspect the shaft (6) for bent or damaged threads.
  11. Clean the tapered surface of the steering knuckle (1).
