Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important: 

  1. Apply a 3.175 mm (1/8 in) bead of sealant, GM P/N 12345739, (Canadian P/N 10953541), or equivalent to the sealing surface of the encoder motor.
  2. Install the encoder motor.

    Rotate the shift detent lever to align to the encoder motor.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install encoder motor bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  4. Connect the encoder motor electrical connector (2).
  5. Install the front propeller shaft. Refer to PROPELLER SHAFT REPLACEMENT - FRONT in Propeller Shaft.
  6. Install the transfer case shield, if equipped. Refer to TRANSFER CASE SHIELD REPLACEMENT .
