Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
  2. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LA3, LY9)  or Generator Replacement (LS6)  or Generator Replacement (LY7) .
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement - Accessory in Engine Mechanical - 5.7L.
  4. Remove the generator bracket bolts.
  5. Remove the generator bracket from the engine.
