Removal & Installation

Number in parenthesis refer to numbers in illustrations.
NOTE:
There are 2 different manufacturers for the spark plug wire, ignition coils and coil brackets. They are as follows: The Melco® ignition coil is a square design (1). The Delphi® ignition coil is a round design (2). See Fig 1 and Fig 2
.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. On 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L models, loosen retaining bolt on intake manifold sight shield at top of engine. See Figure. Remove intake manifold sight shield from top of engine.
- On all models, remove spark plug wire(s) from appropriate ignition coil(s). Disconnect harness connector(s) from appropriate ignition coil(s). Remove retaining bolts from appropriate ignition coil(s). Remove ignition coil(s) from engine.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
