Installation (5-Speed)

  1. Install shift control assembly to the vehicle and clip shift control assembly into shift control adaptor plate. See Figure .
  2. Connect shift control rod (2) to the transmission and install shift control rod pin (3). See Figure .
  3. Connect reaction arm (4) to the transmission and install reaction arm pin (5). See Figure .
  4. Install shift control rod pin and reaction arm pin retaining clips (1). See Figure .
  5. Raise rear of the transmission to the original position.
  6. Install the transmission crossmember. See appropriate article in CLUTCHES.
  7. Remove the transmission jack.
  8. Install drive shaft coupler to the transmission flange. See appropriate DRIVE SHAFTS & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  9. Install the exhaust system.
  10. Install bolts securing shift control assembly to shift control adaptor plate. See Figure .
  11. Install sound insulator foam block into the console. See Figure .
  12. Install the shift control knob/closeout boot. See SHIFT CONTROL KNOB/CLOSEOUT BOOT (5-SPEED)  .
