Installation Procedure

  1. Install the knuckle and backing plate to the wheel bearing/hub.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 125 N.m (92 lb ft).

  4. Install the knuckle to the vehicle.

    IMPORTANT: Loosely install all fasteners before tightening.
  6. Install the adjustment link to knuckle mounting bolt.

  8. Install the trailing arm to knuckle mounting bolt and nut.

  10. Install the lower shock and mounting bolt.

  12. Install the lower control arm to knuckle mounting bolt.

  14. Connect the upper ball joint to the knuckle.
  15. Install the upper ball joint mounting nut.

  17. Install the parking brake cable bracket to the knuckle.
  18. Install the parking brake cable bracket mounting bolts to the knuckle.

    Tighten: 

    • Tighten the upper ball joint nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft) plus a additional 210 degree turn.
    • Tighten the lower control arm to knuckle bolt to 175 N.m (129 lb ft).
    • Tighten the lower shock mounting bolt to 150 N.m (111 lb ft).
    • Tighten the trailing arm to knuckle bolt and nut to 175 N.m (129 lb ft).
    • Tighten the adjustment link to knuckle bolt to 175 N.m (129 lb ft).
    • Tighten the parking brake cable bracket bolts to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).

  19. Remove the jack.

  21. Connect the ABS sensor electrical connector to the backing plate.
  22. Connect the ABS sensor electrical connector.

  24. Install a new wheel drive shaft nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 160 N.m (118 lb ft).

  25. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
  26. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  27. Lower the vehicle.
