Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle

  1. Remove the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle .
  2. Remove the upper tilt head components. Refer to Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
  3. Remove the ignition and key alarm switch assembly and the coded key controller only. Refer to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
  4. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove the park lock cable assembly.
  5. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).

    Important:  The lock bolt assembly (4) is under slight spring tension from the lock bolt spring (3). Hold the lock bolt (4) in place while removing the lock module assembly (2).

  6. The lock bolt and spring are located inside the switch mounting bracket. The lock module assembly is mounted on the switch mounting bracket.
  7. Remove the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) from the lock module assembly (2).
  8. Remove the lock module assembly (2) and the lock bolt assembly (4) from the switch mounting bracket.
  9. Remove the lock bolt spring (3) from the lock bolt assembly (4).

  10. Remove 1 pan head tapping screw (1).
  11. Slide the switch mounting bracket (2) off of the steering column.
