Test U: Memory Seat Feature Inoperative

  1. If power seat systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If power seat systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform POWER SEAT SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Review operation of power seats. See MEMORY SEATS  under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION. If memory seat system does not operate as described, go to next step. If memory seat system operates as described, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
  3. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, select Dash Integration Module (DIM), special functions, set options then personalization option. Follow on-screen instructions to verify personalization option is activated. If personalization option is activated, go to next step. If personalization option is not activated, program DIM. See DASH INTEGRATION MODULE under PROGRAMMING in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
  4. Turn headlights on. Using scan tool, observe memory recall switches parameter in Driver's Door Module (DDM) data list. Press MEMORY SET button. If scan tool displays SET, go to next step. If scan tool does not display SET, go to step  8 .
  5. Using scan tool, observe memory recall switches parameter. Press MEMORY 1 button. If scan tool displays MEMORY 1, go to next step. If scan tool does not display MEMORY 1, go to step  10 .
  6. Using scan tool, observe memory recall switches parameter. Press MEMORY 2 button. If scan tool displays MEMORY 2, go to next step. If scan tool does not display MEMORY 2, go to step  11 .
  7. Using scan tool, observe memory recall switch parameter. Press EXIT button. If scan tool does not display EXIT, go to step  16 . If scan tool displays EXIT, go to step  17 .
  8. Disconnect memory function switch Gray 6-pin harness connector. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between ground and memory function switch harness connector terminal "C" (Orange wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Using scan tool, observe memory recall switch parameter. If scan tool displays SET, go to next step. If scan tool does not display SET, go to step  12 .
  9. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between memory function switch harness connector terminals "C" (Orange wire) and "E" (Black/White wire). Using scan tool, observe memory recall switches parameter. If scan tool displays SET, go to step  16 . If scan tool does not display SET, go to step  18 .
  10. Disconnect memory function switch Gray 6-pin harness connector. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between ground and memory function switch harness connector terminal "A" (White wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Using scan tool, observe memory recall switches parameter. If scan tool does not display MEMORY 1, go to step  13 . If scan tool displays MEMORY 1, go to step  16 .
  11. Disconnect memory function switch Gray 6-pin harness connector. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between ground and memory function switch harness connector terminal "B" (Purple wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Using scan tool, observe memory recall switches parameter. If scan tool does not display MEMORY 2, go to step  14 . If scan tool displays MEMORY 2, go to step  16 .
  12. Inspect Orange wire for an open between memory function switch harness connector terminal "C" and Driver's Door Switch Assembly (DDSA) harness connector terminal No. 4. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem does not exist, go to step  15 . If problem exists, repair Orange wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  13. Inspect White wire for an open between memory function switch harness connector terminal "A" and DDSA harness connector terminal No. 3. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem does not exist, go to step  15 . If problem exists, repair White wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  14. Inspect Purple wire for an open between memory function switch harness connector terminal "B" and DDSA harness connector terminal No. 2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem does not exist, go to next step. If problem exists, repair Purple wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  15. Inspect DDSA harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step  19 . If problem exists, repair DDSA harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  16. Inspect memory function switch harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step  20 . If problem exists, repair memory function switch harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  17. Inspect MSM harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step  21 . If problem exists, repair MSM harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  22 .
  18. Repair open in Black/White wire between memory function switch harness connector terminal "E" and DDM harness connector C1 terminal No. 14. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, go to step  22 .
  19. Replace DDSA, then go to step  22 .
  20. Replace memory function switch. After repair, go to step  22 .
  21. Replace MSM, then go to next step.
  22. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step  2 .
