Test B: Memory Recall Position Inaccurate
- If door systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform door systems diagnostic system check. See DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Ensure that personalization feature is enabled. See DASH INTEGRATION MODULE under PROGRAMMING in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Adjust both outside mirrors to driver preference. Using memory select switch, program mirrors. See MEMORY MIRRORS under PROGRAMMING. Readjust mirrors to an extreme position. Press MEMORY button to position previously programmed. If mirrors do not return to programmed setting, go to next step. If mirrors return to programmed setting, problem may be intermittent. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, navigate Dash Integration Module (DIM) special functions. Select set options, then appropriate personalization. Follow on-screen instructions to ensure personalization option is activated. If personalization option is activated, go to next step. If personalization option is not activated, program DIM. See DASH INTEGRATION MODULE under PROGRAMMING in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
- Using scan tool, navigate to DDM data list, and observe horizontal or vertical position sensor parameter. Using Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA), operate suspect outside rearview mirror to limits of travel. Position sensor parameter should be 0.25-4.75 volts. If position parameter are not within specified value, go to next step. If position parameter is within specified value, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect suspect door module Green 6-pin harness connector C3. Door module is located behind respective door panel. Ensure remaining harness connectors are still connected to suspect door module. Measure voltage of 5-volt reference circuit between ground and suspect door module harness connector C3 terminal No. 3 (Red/Black wire). See Figure . Voltage should be 4.5-5.5 volts. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to step 11 .
- Using scan tool, observe horizontal and vertical position sensor parameters in DDM data list. Position sensor parameter should be 4.5-5.5 volts. If position sensor parameter is as specified, go to next step. If position sensor parameter is not as specified, go to step 11 .
- Connect fused (3-amp) jumper wire between suspect door module harness connector C3 terminals No. 5 (Light Blue/Black wire) and 6 (Purple/Black wire). See Figure . Using scan tool, observe horizontal position sensor parameter in DDM data list. Remove and connect jumper wire between suspect door module harness connector C3 terminals No. 4 (Dark Green/Black wire) and 5 (Light Blue/Black wire). Using scan tool, observe vertical position sensor parameter. Vertical sensor parameter should be zero-0.5 volts. If position sensor parameters are as specified, go to next step. If position sensor parameters are not as specified, go to step 11 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in outside rearview mirror harness connectors. If problem does not exist, go to step 10 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in suspect outside rearview mirror harness connector. If problem does not exist, go to step 11 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Replace suspect outside rearview mirror assembly. See POWER MIRROR ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Replace suspect door module. See DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Operate power mirror system to verify repair. If system operates normally, testing is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step 2 .
