Fuel System Pressure Release

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Cadillac Seville, 2002 Cadillac Eldorado, and 2002 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Turn OFF the ignition. Disconnect the negative battery cable in order to avoid possible fuel discharge if an accidental attempt is made to start the engine. Remove mounting the 2 mounting nuts from the injector sight shield (top engine cover). Lift the injector sight shield off the mounting studs by lifting at the front of the cover. Connect the Connect Fuel Pressure Gauge (J-34730-1A) to the fuel pressure valve on the fuel rail. Wrap a shop towel around the fitting while connecting the gage in order to avoid spillage. Install the bleed hose into an approved container. Open the valve in order to bleed the system pressure. Fuel connections are now safe for servicing. Drain any fuel remaining in the gauge into an approved container.
