Test E: Remote Keyless Entry System Inoperative
- If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was not performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
- If RKE system is inoperative from both transmitters, go to next step. If RKE system is inoperative from one transmitter, go to step 8 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module connector. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure voltage between RFA module connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire) and ground. If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step 5 .
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between RFA module connector terminals No. 1 (Orange wire) and No. 4 (Black wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 7 . If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step 6 .
- Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between RFA module and rear fuse block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Repair open in Black wire between RFA module and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Replace RFA module. See REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Replace transmitter battery in faulty transmitter. Recheck system operation. If RKE system is still inoperative, go to next step.
- Replace faulty transmitter. After replacement, transmitter must be programmed. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. Recheck system operation.
