PASS-Key(R) II System

  1. Connect scan tool. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to communicate with PZM, IPC and PCM. If scan tool communicates with PZM, IPC and PCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with any module, see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  3. Check PZM, IPC and PCM for DTCs. If DTCs exist, go to next step. If no DTCs exist, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM TESTS  .
  4. If scan tool displays any DTCs starting with "U", see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If no DTCs starting with "U" are present, go to next step.
  5. If scan tool displays DTC B1556 or B1558, see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If DTC B1556 and B1558 are not present, go to next step.
  6. If DTC B1327, B1328 or B1981 is present, repair voltage supply. See appropriate GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If DTCs B1327, B1328 and B1981 are not present, diagnose DTCs retrieved. See DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  .
