Charge Indicator Light Inoperative

  1. Check battery. Charge or replace as necessary. Go to next step.
  2. Disconnect generator connector. Connect a jumper wire between harness connector terminal "L" (Red wire) and ground. Turn ignition on. If charge indicator light is not on, go to next step. If charge indicator light is on, go to step  5 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C1. Attach a fused jumper wire between harness connector C1 terminal A9 (Red wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Turn ignition on. If charge indicator light is on, go to next step. If charge indicator light is not on, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect all connectors and recheck system.
  4. Check harness connector C1 terminal A9 for poor connection. Repair as necessary. Check Red wire between generator and instrument panel for open circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If no problem was found, replace generator. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system.
  5. Check generator connector terminal "L" for poor connection. Repair connector as necessary. If no problem was found, replace generator. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system.
