Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communications with vehicle. If scan tool communicates with vehicle, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with vehicle, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE in BODY CONTROL MODULES - ELDORADO article.
  2. Attempt to communicate with Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module. If scan tool communicates with RFA module, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with RFA module, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM INOPERATIVE  .
  3. Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in RFA module. If any current RKE DTCs are present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX  table under RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES in SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are set, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
