DTC B2473: High Beam Fault: Testing

  1. If lighting system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If lighting system has not been performed, go to LIGHTING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn headlight switch on. Remove high/low beam headlight relay from underhood relay center. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and high/low headlight relay connector terminal C9 (Orange/Black wire). See HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article. If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step  7 .
  3. Using DVOM, measure voltage between high/low headlight relay connector terminals C9 (Orange/Black wire) and D7 (Black/White wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step  5 .
  4. Replace high/low headlight relay. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  5. Check for open in Black/White wire between PZM and high/low headlight relay. If faulty circuit is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  8 .
  6. Replace PZM. See PLATFORM ZONE MODULE (PZM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  8 .
  7. Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between high/low headlight relay and rear compartment fuse block. After repairs, go to step  8 .
  8. Repair open in Black/White wire. After repairs, go to next step.
  9. Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Recheck system operation. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC resets, go to step  2 . If DTC does not reset, repair is complete.
