Diagnostic System Check
- Connect scan tool. Attempt to communicate with Driver Door Module (DDM), Body Control Module (BCM), Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Remote Function Access (RFA) module and Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) module. If scan tool does not communicate with all modules, diagnose communication problem. See appropriate
BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If scan tool communicates with all modules, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, check DDM, BCM, PCM, RFA and VTD modules for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). If DTCs exist, go to next step. If DTCs do not exist, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM TESTS
.
- If scan tool displays:
- DTCs U1161, U1161, U1170 or any DTC beginning with "U", see appropriate
BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- DTC B1000, replace BCM. See appropriate
BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- DTC B1327, battery/source voltage is low. See appropriate
BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Any DTCs for VTD module, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX
table.
- Repair system as necessary. Using scan tool, clear DTCs and recheck system operation.
