Test 2: One Window Inoperative

NOTE: This test assumes all DTCs have been diagnosed.
  1. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Operate each power window switch and observe parameters in Driver Door Module (DDM) data display in scan tool. If all switches operate in up, down and express (front windows), go to step  7 . If all switches do not operate in up, down and express (front windows), go to next step.
  2. If driver door switch operates in all 4 states (idle, up, down and express), go to step  4 . If driver door switch does not operate in all 4 states (idle, up, down and express), go to next step.
  3. Operate driver door switch and observe parameters on scan tool. If driver door switch does not change to any state other than idle, check wiring and connections in inoperative door and driver door switch harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If wiring and connections are okay, replace driver door switch or passenger door module that fails to respond to power window switch signals. If driver door does change, replace driver door switch or passenger door module that fails to respond to power window switch signals.
  4. Operate passenger door switches and observe parameters on scan tool. If switch parameters change to state other than idle, go to next step. If switch parameters do not change to state other than idle, go to step  6 .
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect passenger window switch connector. Install fused jumper between ground and signal circuit in switch connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If scan tool indicates missing switch parameter, check wiring and connections at switch. If connections are okay, replace switch. If missing switch parameter is not displayed, check wiring and connections in switch wiring. WIRING DIAGRAMS  If wiring and connections are okay, replace driver door switch or passenger door module that fails to respond to power window switch signals.
  6. Test ground circuit of inoperative switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If ground circuit is okay, check wiring and connector at switch. If wiring and connector are okay, replace driver door switch or passenger door module that fails to respond to power window switch signals.
  7. Using scan tool, select each window in power window TEST application, in OUTPUT CONTROL application, in SPECIAL FUNCTIONS, in DRIVER DOOR MODULE data list. Command each window UP and DOWN. If windows all work, repeat system test. If one or more does not operate, go to next step.
  8. Test window battery feed circuit and ground circuit of windows that do not move. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Check wiring to window for shorts, grounds and opens. If wiring and circuits are okay, replace window motor. See WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
