DTC B1328: Device Power Circuit High: Testing

  1. If starting and charging system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If starting and charging system diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK in GENERATORS & REGULATORS - DEVILLE article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor battery voltage parameter in Dash Integration Module (DIM) data list. If voltage is less 15.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 15.5 volts, go to step  4 .
  3. Monitor battery voltage parameter in data list of module setting DTC B1328. If voltage is less than 15.5 volts, check for intermittent or poor connections at module setting DTC B1328. If voltage is greater than 15.5 volts, go to step  5 .
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect DIM connectors. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between DIM connector C3 terminals A12 (Orange wire) and B12 (Black wire). See Figure . If voltage is less than 15.5 volts, go to step  6 . If voltage is greater than 15.5 volts, go to GENERATOR FUNCTIONAL TEST under ON-VEHICLE TESTING in GENERATORS & REGULATORS - DEVILLE article.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect module setting DTC B1328. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between battery positive voltage circuit terminal and ground circuit terminal of module connector setting DTC B1328. If voltage is less than 15.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 15.5 volts, go to GENERATOR FUNCTIONAL TEST under ON-VEHICLE TESTING in GENERATORS & REGULATORS - DEVILLE article.
  6. Replace module setting DTC B1328. See appropriate procedure under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . After repairs, go to next step.
  7. Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Operate vehicle and recheck for DTCs. If DTC B1328 resets, go to step  2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay at this time.
