DTC B2860: Telescope Position Sensor Range: Description

Steering Column Tilt/Telescoping Module (SCCM) determines position of steering column based on inputs received from potentiometer sensors that are built into tilt and telescoping actuator. SCCM supplies a 5-volt reference signal and a ground to these sensors and monitors column position via a tilt and telescope position input circuit. Self-diagnostic test runs once every 30 seconds. During normal operation, steering column position sensor inputs are compared to values that are stored in memory of SCCM.

DTC B2860 will set when sensor inputs and limits stored in SCCM memory differ for a time period of 2 seconds. SCCM determines circuit is shorted. DTC will not set if B1327 is set as current. When a sensor code is set as current, SCCM will not allow affected motor to work during memory recall and/or easy exit operations. Motor will still operate for manual switch positioning.

DTC will clear when SCCM no longer detects short in circuit. Scan tool can be used to manually clear DTC.
