DTC U1161: Loss Of Pass Door Module SBI: Testing

  1. If data link communications diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If data link communications diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform data link communications diagnostic system check. See DATA LINK COMMUNICATIONS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. If DTCs U1162, U1163 and U1170 are also present, go to DTC U1170: LOSS OF DRIVER DOOR SWITCH SBI  . If only DTC U1161 is present, go to next step.
  3. Check for open in Tan/White wire between door modules and door switches. See appropriate wiring diagram in DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If faulty circuit is found and repaired, go to step  6 . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
  4. Check power and ground circuits going to PDM for opens or shorts. See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION or GROUND DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If faulty circuit is found and repaired, go to step  6 . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
  5. Replace Power Door Module (PDM). After repairs, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. After clearing DTCs, perform DATA LINK COMMUNICATIONS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
