DTC B1318: Driver's Side Solar Sensor: Testing
- If body control system diagnostic check has been performed, go to next step. If body control system diagnostic check has not been performed, perform body control system diagnostic check. See BODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Park vehicle outside, in a well lighted area. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, display driver's side solar sensor and note sensor count value. Cover sensor with a dark material. If sensor count increases, go to next step. If sensor count does not increase, go to step 4 .
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Cycle ignition switch to ON and OFF position several times. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC B1318 resets, go to next step. If DTC B1318 does not reset, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect driver's side solar sensor connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between sensor connector terminals. If reading is 5 volts, go to step 8 . If reading is not 5 volts, go to next step.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and sensor connector terminal "A" (Light Blue/Black wire). If reading is 5 volts, go to step 9 . If reading is not 5 volts, go to next step.
- Using DVOM connected to ground, backprobe and measure voltage at IPM connector B2 (Light Blue/Black wire). See Figure . If reading is 5 volts, go to next step. If reading is not 5 volts, go to step 10 .
- Repair open or short in Light Blue/Black wire. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Replace driver's side solar sensor. After replacing solar sensor, go to step 12 .
- Check if HVAC related DTCs are set. If all HVAC DTCs are set, go to next step. If all HVAC DTCs are not set, go to step 11 .
- Check for proper terminal contact. Repair as necessary. If terminal contacts are okay, replace IPM. See INSTRUMENT PANEL INTEGRATION MODULE (IPM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Repair open or short in Yellow wire. After repairs, go to next step.
- Reconnect all components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. After clearing DTCs, perform body control system diagnostic check. See BODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
