DTC B0533: Fuel Sensor Feedback Shorted High: Testing
- If body control system diagnostic check has been performed, go to next step. If body control system diagnostic check has not been performed, perform body control system diagnostic check. See BODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn ignition switch to ON position for 10 seconds. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC B0533 resets, go to next step. If DTC B0533 does not reset, system is okay at this time.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Rear Integration Module (RIM) connector C1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between RIM connector C1 terminal A7 (Purple wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . See Figure . If voltage is 10-15 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10-15 volts, go to step 5 .
- Repair short to battery voltage in Purple wire. After repairs, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between RIM connector terminals A7 (Purple wire) and B3 (Black wire). If resistance is 40-250 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 40-250 ohms, go to step 7 .
- Check RIM connector C1 for damage. Repair as necessary. If connector is okay, replace RIM. After replacing RIM, go to step 10 .
- Disconnect fuel level sensor connector. Measure resistance between RIM connector C1 terminals A7 (Purple wire) and B3 (Black wire). If resistance is not infinite, go to next step. If resistance is infinite, go to step 9 .
- Repair high resistance or short between Purple wire and Black wire. After repairs, go to step 10 .
- Replace fuel level sensor. See FUEL PUMP in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - CARS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. After replacing sensor, go to next step.
- Reconnect all components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. After clearing DTCs, perform body control system diagnostic check. See BODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
