Power Seat Inoperative: DeVille

NOTE: This procedure applies to vehicles equipped with memory systems only.
  1. If memory seats system check was performed, go to next step. If memory seats system check was not performed, go to MEMORY SEATS SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Disconnect Memory Seat Module (MSM) connector C2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between MSM connector C2 terminals "C" (Black wire) and "D" (Orange wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . See Figure . If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step  5 .
  3. Disconnect left front seat switch connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between left seat switch connector terminal "J" (Black wire) and battery voltage. If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step  6 .
  4. Replace left seat switch. See POWER SEATS - DEVILLE & ELDORADO article. After repairs, go to step  7 .
  5. Repair open in Black wire between MSM and splice S351 located in left seat harness approximately 2" from power seat motor harness breakout. After repairs, go to step  7 .
  6. Repair open in Black wire between left seat switch and splice S200 located behind left kick panel. After repairs, go to next step.
  7. Recheck operation of power seats. If non-memory power seat component or system is thought to be at fault, go to POWER SEATS - DEVILLE & ELDORADO article.
