Memory Seats

  1. Turn ignition on. Install scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool can communicate with driver seat adjuster memory module, go to step  3 . If scan tool does not communicate with driver seat adjuster memory module, go to next step.
  2. Go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH MEMORY SEAT MODULE (MSM)  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Program driver seat adjuster memory module. See MEMORY SEAT PROGRAMMING  under ADJUSTMENTS. Go to next step.
  4. Check for current and history Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If DTCs are displayed, go to next step. If no DTCs are displayed, go to step  6 .
  5. Proceed to appropriate DTC diagnostic test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. Repair as necessary.
  6. Operate driver's seat with scan tool functions. If driver's seat operates using scan tool, go to next step. If driver's seat does not operate using scan tool, go to step  8 .
  7. Replace power seat switch. See POWER SWITCHES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  1 .
  8. Turn ignition on. Move front of seat to up/down positions with seat switch. Front of seat should move up/down. Move rear of seat to up/down positions with seat switch. Rear of seat should move up/down. Move seat switch forward. Seat should move forward. Move seat switch back. Seat should move backward. Move recline switch forward. Seatback should move forward. Move recline switch back. Seatback should move backward. See Figure . If seat responds as specified, go to next step. If seat does not respond as specified, go to MEMORY SEAT INOPERATIVE; NO DTCS EXIST  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  9. Program memory seat switch in all 3 positions. See MEMORY SEAT PROGRAMMING  under ADJUSTMENTS. Depress memory No. 1 button. Driver's seat, inside rear-view mirror and outside rear-view mirrors should move to pre-set positions. Depress memory No. 2 button. Driver's seat, inside rear-view mirror and outside rear-view mirrors should move to pre-set positions. Depress memory No. 3 button. Driver's seat, inside rear-view mirror and outside rear-view mirrors should move to pre-set positions. See Figure . If seat and mirrors do not function as specified, go to MEMORY SEAT INOPERATIVE; NO DTCS EXIST  under SYSTEM TESTS. If seat and mirrors function as specified, system is operating normally.
