IPC Clear Codes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Cadillac Seville, 1997 Cadillac Eldorado, and 1997 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The IPC clear codes option is used to clear stored IPC DTCs. When selected, the IPC clear codes option immediately erases all set DTCs, and displays the IPC codes clear message. Once a malfunction has been corrected, clear all DTCs so that any future service work is not needlessly confused. Many IPC DTCs have complex test and malfunction conditions. Therefore, simply clearing DTCs, exiting diagnostics and watching to see if the DTC sets again, may not indicate whether a malfunction has been corrected. To verify a repair after it is complete, you must review the test conditions for setting a particular DTC and duplicate the conditions.
