Preliminary Checks

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check BATT fuse (10-amp) in trunk compartment fuse block. Check MIRROR fuse (10-amp) in engine compartment fuse/relay center. Check SEATS circuit breaker (30-amp) in LH MaxiFuse(R) Block. Ensure ground connections are clean and tight. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment.
  2. If seat motor internal circuit breaker is tripped, remove voltage from motor to reset. Check for broken or partially broken wire inside of insulation, which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded.
