Trunk Lid Does Not Open When Either Trunk Lid Release Switch
IS PRESSED OR WHEN REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR TRANSMITTER TRUNK
RELEASE BUTTON IS PRESSED
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Press trunk release switch or trunk release on remote function actuator transmitter. Switch valet lockout off. If Body Control Module (BCM) commands trunk lid release on, go to next step. If BCM does not command trunk lid release on, check status of valet lockout switch with scan tool. If status indicates OFF, replace BCM. If status does not indicate OFF, check Dark Blue/White wire for a short to ground. If circuit is okay, replace BCM.
- Disconnect trunk lid release relay. Connect test light between ground and relay connector terminals No. 86 (Orange wire) and 30 (Orange wire). If test light comes on at both terminals, go to next step. If test light does not come on at both terminals, repair open circuit in Orange wires.
- Connect test light between relay connector terminals No. 86 (Orange wire) and 85 (Light Blue wire). Press trunk lid release switch or command trunk lid release open with scan tool. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, check Light Blue wire for an open circuit. If Light Blue wire is okay, replace BCM.
- Connect fused jumper wire between relay terminals No. 30 (Orange wire) and 87 (Black/White wire). If trunk lid does not open, go to next step. If trunk lid opens, replace trunk lid release relay.
- Ensure fused jumper wire is still connected. Disconnect trunk lid release solenoid. Connect test light between solenoid terminal "A" (Black/White wire) and ground. If test light comes on, replace trunk lid release solenoid. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Black/White wire.
