Manual Bleeding Procedure: Brakelines

  1. With engine off, remove reserve vacuum by applying brakes several times. Fill master cylinder with brake fluid and keep half full during bleeding procedure.
  2. Place proper size box end wrench over bleeder valve. Attach one end of clear tube over valve and submerge other end in container partially filled with clean brake fluid.
NOTE: Rapid pumping of brake pedal causes master cylinder secondary piston to move into a position that makes bleeding system difficult.
  3. Have an assistant slowly depress and hold brake pedal. Starting at left front wheel, loosen bleeder valve to purge air from cylinder. Tighten bleeder valve to specification and slowly release brake pedal. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table. Repeat sequence until all air is removed.
  4. Remove tube and wrench. Proceed to right front wheel, left rear wheel and finish at right rear wheel. Fill master cylinder, and replace cover.
