Intermittent Relay Check

  1. If SECURITY indicator comes on for 5 seconds and then goes off, check connections to relay. If connections are okay, replace relay.
  2. If SECURITY indicator remains on past 5 second bulb check when vehicle will not crank, check if SECURITY indicator is on. If indicator is on, relay is not defective.
  3. If problem is having to turn key to START position several times before engine will crank, check for intermittent relay. If relay connections are okay, replace relay.
  4. Check if vehicle can be started immediately after a fault. If vehicle cannot be started, relay is not at fault.
