On-Vehicle Check

  1. With the driver buckled in the restraint system, and with the aid of an assistant in the rear seat (also buckled in the restraint system and holding the sides of the passenger seat back near the top with arms stiff and body relaxed), drive the vehicle forward at about 10-15 MPH (16-24 km/h). Then quickly apply the brakes to stop as fast as possible without skidding the wheels.
  2. The seat back inertia lock should lock at the first locking position; the top of the seat back should not move forward more than 50 mm (2 inches). When doing this check on the driver's seat back, the driver should lean slightly forward.
  3. If either the driver or passenger seat back lock does not lock on the first locking position, go to OFF-VEHICLE CHECK  .
