PFI System Check
PFI SYSTEM CHECK should be starting point for all diagnosis. It is an organized approach for identifying a problem caused by PFI system. Driver complaints are usually steady SERVICE ENGINE SOON light, driveability problems, engine will not start or engine stalls after start.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- SERVICE ENGINE SOON light will remain on after bulb check or after engine has started if one or more current codes are present. SERVICE ENGINE SOON light will turn off after 2 seconds if no current codes are present.
- PFI Chart A-3 diagnoses a faulty SERVICE ENGINE SOON light control circuit, PCM or system that turns on light but cannot communicate diagnostic codes.
