NOTE:
If directed here from TEST TYPE SELECTION, proceed to step 2).
- OVERRIDE tests facilitate display of a component's current operation status, represented as a percentage of its full range. OVERRIDE tests also permit a component's present functional status to be overridden and controlled by technician. To enter OVERRIDE:
- Enter self-diagnostics. See ENTERING SELF-DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Display all trouble codes stored in memory. Refer to DISPLAYING TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Select BCM system for testing. Refer to MANUAL OPERATION OF SELF-DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Select OVERRIDE test. Refer to MANUAL OPERATION OF SELF-DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- After selecting OVERRIDE, select a specific test. See MANUAL OPERATION OF SELF-DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Display now alternates between selected system's present operating specifications and normal specifications for system. All values for comparison are displayed on ECC panel.
- Pressing WARMER or COOLER buttons on ECC panel begins override function, while simultaneously stopping alternating display of present and normal system operating values. Pressing WARMER button increases a value. Pressing COOLER button decreases a value.
- Upon releasing COOLER or WARMER button, display may remain at an override value or automatically return to normal program control. If display remains at override value, normal program control resumes by:
- Selecting another OVERRIDE test, canceling current override.
- Selecting another system, canceling current override.
- Overriding a value beyond extremes of zero or 99, causing display to alternate between out-of-range value and opposite extreme. If button is released while out-of-range value is displayed, normal program control resumes.
NOTE:
While in OVERRIDE, another test type within selected system may also be active. After selecting an OVERRIDE test, press OFF button to select another test type. ECC panel, however, continues to display selected override. Pressing WARMER or COOLER allows monitoring effect of OVERRIDE on different vehicle parameters.
