Removal & Installation: Notes

CAUTION: When fasteners are removed, always reinstall them at the same location from which they were removed. If a fastener needs to be replaced, use the correct part number fastener for that application. If the correct part number fastener is not available, a fastener of equal size and strength (or stronger) may be used. Fasteners that are not reused, and those requiring thread locking compound will be called out. The correct torque value must be used when installing fasteners that require it. If the above conditions are not followed, parts or system damage could result.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
CAUTION: When working around a front door with the door trim panel removed and the door opened for an extended period of time it will be necessary to trip the latch fork to stimulate a closed door. This will de-energize the reactor solenoid and prevent overheating.
NOTE: Connecting rods and push rods are attached to components by spring clips, plastic clips, or self retaining ends. Spring clips are disengaged as described. See SPRING CLIPS (FRONT & REAR)  . Plastic clips are disengaged by unsnapping the clip from the connecting rod and then pulling rod out of attaching hole (clip remains in hole until rod is removed). Rivet attached bell cranks are removed by punching out attaching rivet center pin and then drilling out rivet with 3/16" drill bit. Attach bell crank with 3/16" diameter and 5/16" length steel rivet (USM part No. SD62BS or equivalent).
