Traction Control Plunger

The traction control plunger contains two solenoid valves which control hydraulic brake pressure to the front wheels when the EBCM detects that traction control is required to prevent the front wheel from slipping. From the hydraulic unit, a high pressure line and each front wheel hydraulic line are connected to the plunger unit. See Figure.

A low pressure fluid return line connects the plunger to the hydraulic unit reservoir. Two additional hydraulic lines connect from the plunger unit to each front wheel brake caliper.

The traction control plunger assembly is attached to a bracket, located below and outboard of the hydraulic unit mounting bracket. The plunger unit is located near the firewall and is connected to the ABS/TCS unit.
