How To Perform Test

The procedure for performing the PLAUSIBILITY SWITCH test is described below and summarized in the above illustration. See Fig 1 .

  1. Ignition must be on when performing this and all other tests with the J 36210 tester.
  2. Install the J 36210 tester and J 36210-90 adapter; turn ignition ON. The READY LED must be ON.
  3. Select SWITCH PLAUS. test mode on the test selector buttons.
  4. SLOWLY depress the brake pedal and watch the row of LEDs at the bottom of tester. Observe the sequence in which they turn on. The normal sequence is described below:
    • As the pedal is applied, the BLS LED will turn on at approximately the same time as the S2A LED. These LEDs should remain on as the test is continued.
    • As the brake pedal is pressed further downward, the S2B LED should turn on and remain on as the test continues.
    • As the pedal is applied further and approaches full stroke, the S2B LED should turn on.
  5. Release the pedal and evaluate the observed sequence. Repeat the pedal application as many times as necessary to confirm the sequence.
