Removal & Installation: Battery: Notes

WARNING: Battery vent tubes must be reconnected when installing battery in vehicle. During normal recharge of the battery, the vent tubes will vent the following items to atmosphere. If tubes are not connected, serious personal injury or property damage may occur due to a battery explosion.
WARNING: When handling a battery, the following safety precautions should be observed: Hydrogen gas is produced by the battery. A flame or spark near the battery may cause the gas to ignite. Battery fluid is highly acidic. Avoid spilling on clothing or other fabric. Any spilled electrolyte should be flushed with large quantities of water and cleaned immediately.
NOTE: The ignition switch must be off when connecting or disconnecting battery cables or chargers. Failure to do so may overstress or damage the ECM or other electronic components.
NOTE: The battery must be replaced with the same style vented flat top battery. This is required so that the vent hoses can be attached to allow for proper venting of the battery to atmosphere.
