Output Displays
Output displays are operated as defined under Selecting Test . The ECM OUTPUTS option provides the ability to cycle all of the emission solenoids, the ISC motor, and the A/C Relay individually or as a group. The ECM output tests can only by done at key "ON" engine "OFF". The ECM outputs available are as follows:
- EO00 - CYCLE NONE
No outputs are cycled. - EO01 - CAN PURGE
HI means that the solenoid is energized (ECM grounding the solenoid circuit) and engine vacuum to canister purge control valve in the canister is blocked, disabling canister purge. LO means that the solenoid is de-energized and purge is enabled. - EO02 - VCC SOL
HI means that the solenoid is energized (ECM grounding the solenoid circuit) and VCC is enabled. (VCC will not apply during output cycling because the transmission has no oil pressure for VCC apply). LO means that the solenoid is de-energized and VCC is not enabled. - EO04 - EGR SOL
This system is not used in the 1989 PFI system. When this output is selected the "----" display indicates that this system is not available for cycling. - EO05 AIR SWITCH
This system is not used in the 1989 PFI system. When this output is selected the "----" display indicates that this system is not available for cycling. - EO06 - AIR DIVERT
This system is not used in the 1989 PFI system. When this output is selected the "---" display indicates that this system is not available for cycling. - EO07 - ISC MOTOR
HI means that the ISC motor is being commanded by the ECM to extend. The ECM provides 12 volt pulses to the ISC extend circuit and a ground to the ISC retract circuit. LO means that the ISC motor is being commanded by the ECM to retract. The ECM provides 12 volt pulses to the ISC retract circuit and a ground to the ISC extend circuit. - EO08 - CRUISE VENT
HI means that the solenoid is energized (ECM providing 12 volts to the solenoid circuit). With the vent solenoid energized, vacuum in the servo is vented to atmosphere releasing the servo diaphragm. LO means that the solenoid is de-energized (ECM not providing voltage to the solenoid). The vent solenoid will stay closed trapping vacuum in the servo. - EO09 - CRUISE VACUUM
HI means that the solenoid is energized (ECM providing 12 volts to the solenoid circuit). With the vacuum solenoid energized, vacuum from the vacuum reservoir is allowed to pass to the cruise servo. LO means that the solenoid is de-energized (ECM not providing voltage to the solenoid). The vacuum solenoid will stay closed blocking vacuum to the servo. - EO10 - 2-3 SHIFT
HI means that the solenoid is energized (ECM grounding the solenoid circuit). With the solenoid energized, the transmission will allow a 2-3 shift to occur. LO means that the solenoid is de-energized and that a 2-3 shift would not be allowed. - EO11 - 3-4 SHIFT
HI means that the solenoid is energized (ECM grounding the solenoid circuit), With the solenoid energized, the transmission will allow a 3-4 shift to occur. LO means that the solenoid is de-energized and that a 3-4 shift would not be allowed. - EO20 - A/C RELAY
LO means that the relay is energized (ECM grounding the relay circuit). With the relay energized, the A/C clutch will be engaged. - EO99 - CYCLE ALL
All of the above outputs are cycled simultaneously. HI corresponds to HI status indications previously described. LO corresponds to LO status indications previously described.
