Stall After Start

  1. Inspect vacuum hoses and electrical connections. Ensure hot air tube is connected to air cleaner. Check air cleaner thermostatic valve operation.
  2. Check PCV and EGR valve operation. Check Electronic Spark Timing (EST) if engine will run with EST disabled. Check fuel pressure. Fuel pressure should be a steady 9-12 psi (.6-.8 kg/cm2 ) in all speed ranges.
  3. If fuel pressure is not within specification, see appropriate A-4 FUEL SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS CHART in COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROL section. Check for overcharged A/C system or inoperative cooling fan.
  4. Check for plugged or restricted fuel lines. Check for defective ignition system. Check for restricted exhaust system.
