Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) Sensor
The MAT sensor is located in the intake manifold directly in front of the throttle body unit. Sensor measures air/fuel mixture temperature in intake manifold. Sensor is a thermistor whose resistance changes as air temperature changes. Low temperature produces high resistance and high temperature produces low resistance. The ECM interprets the varying resistances as changing in air/fuel mixture temperatures. This information is used by ECM for computing injector pulse width adjustments.
