Front Wheel Speed Sensor: Notes
NOTE:
If the wheel speed sensor is removed from the mounting bracket, the sensor body must be coated with GM Anti-corrosion Compound (P/N 1052856) or equivalent at all areas where the sensor comes in contact with the mounting bracket. The Anti-Corrosion Compound, which comes in 16 oz. spray cans, must be liberally applied to the areas of the sensor as shown in illustration, prior to installation in the mounting bracket. See Figure
.
NOTE:
If the sensor mounting bracket bolts are loosened or removed, the sensor gap must be adjusted. If the sensor is removed without loosening or removing the mounting bracket bolts, it is not necessary to adjust sensor gap.
The front wheel speed sensor is attached to the front suspension knuckle by a mounting bracket. The mounting bracket is held to the knuckle by two bolts which utilize oversized holes. At the time of assembly, the wheel speed sensor gap is set by proper positioning of the sensor mounting bracket on the suspension knuckle prior to tightening of the mounting bracket bolts.
