Retrieving Stored Trouble Codes

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Enter diagnostics. See Entering Diagnostic Mode . After diagnostic mode is entered, any trouble codes stored in computer memory will be displayed. ECM trouble codes will be displayed first. If no ECM trouble codes are stored, a "NO ECM CODES" message will be displayed. All ECM codes will be prefixed with a "E". The lowest numbered ECM code will be displayed first followed by progressively higher numbered codes present.
  2. Following highest ECM code present or "NO ECM CODES" message, BCM trouble codes will be displayed. All BCM codes will be prefixed with a "B". If no BCM trouble codes are stored, "NO BCM CODES" message will be displayed. Codes prefixed with an "L" indicate lighting codes. If no lighting codes are present, "NO LIGHTING CODES" message will be displayed.
  3. Any codes displayed will also be accompanied by "Current" or "History". "History" indicates failure was not present last time code was tested, and "Current" indicates fault still exists. At any time during display of ECM, BCM or lighting trouble codes, if "LO" button on Climate Control Panel (CCP) is depressed, the display of trouble codes will be bypassed. See Figure. At this time, if next diagnostic system level is not desired, see Exiting Diagnostic Mode .
