Circuit/System Description

Remote vehicle start begins as a radio frequency message received by the remote function actuator module from a keyless entry transmitter. The message is then sent to the body control module (BCM). The message can also be sent through OnStar directly to the BCM. The BCM monitors system conditions such as content theft deterrent, hood ajar status, and body DTCs to determine if a remote vehicle start event will occur. If conditions are determined to be acceptable, the remote vehicle start message is sent to the Drive Motor Control module (DMCM). The DMCM monitors system conditions such as drive motor control parameters and vehicle theft deterrent to determine if propulsion mode will be allowed. If conditions are acceptable, the DMCM will initiate Propulsion mode. During the run time in a remote vehicle start attempt, before the operator enters the vehicle, the DMCM may discontinue propulsion mode if system conditions require it or a message is received from the BCM requesting immobilization.
