Installation Procedure

  1. Steering Column (1) - Install

  2. Steering Column Nut (1) - Install and hand tighten [4x]

    NOTE:

    Support the steering column while installing the steering column nuts.

    3. CAUTION:

    Fastener Caution .

  3. Steering Column Nut (1) - Tighten in sequence [4x] 22 N.m (16 lb ft)
  4. Connect the steering column electrical connectors.
  5. Align the relationship marks made between the steering column and the upper intermediate steering shaft (1) during removal.

  6. Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft@Steering Column - Install - Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement 
  7. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster - Install - Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Replacement
  8. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side (2) - Install - Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side

  9. Steering Column Lower Trim Cover (2) - Install

  10. Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement
  11. Steering Column Upper Trim Cover - Install - Instrument Panel Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Replacement
  12. Remove the CH-42640  Steering Column Anti-Rotation Pin (1) from the steering column lower access hole.

    CAUTION:

    The anti-rotation pi must be removed from the steering column before installing the steering wheel. Ensure that the steering wheel bolt is torqued to specification during steering wheel installation. Over torquing the steering wheel bolt can result in damage to the steering column rivets which will disable the telescoping mechanism. If the steering column rivets are damaged, a new steering colum must be installed.

  13. Steering Wheel (1) - Install - Steering Wheel Replacement

  14. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
  15. Perform functionality check of tilt and telescoping features.
