Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW intermediate steering shaft boot clamp (1) onto the intermediate steering shaft boot.

  2. Position the intermediate steering shaft boot in the vehicle.
  3. Intermediate Steering Shaft - Install

  4. Prepare the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (2) for installation.

    1. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive. (2)
    2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. (2) Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  5. CAUTION:

    Fastener Caution .

  6. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (2) - Install and tighten 42 N.m (31 lb ft)
  7. Slide the intermediate steering shaft boot (1) downwards and onto the steering gear.
  8. Use the DT-35910  Drive Axle Boot Clamp Pliers (1) to install the NEW intermediate steering shaft boot clamp.

  9. Front Compartment Air Deflector (1) - Install - Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement (Base)Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement (Oil Filter Access)

  10. Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  11. Intermediate Steering Shaft Inner Boot (1) - Install - Intermediate Steering Shaft Inner Boot Replacement

  12. Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft - Install - Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement 
  13. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side - Install - Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side
  14. Remove the CH-42640  Steering Column Anti-Rotation Pin (1) from the steering column lower access hole.
