Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the connector at the S82 Windshield Wiper and Windshield Washer Switch. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
  2. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the low reference circuit terminal 1 and B+.
    • If test lamp does not illuminate
    1. Test circuit 6009 for an open/high resistance.
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
    2. Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
    • Go to next step: If test lamp illuminates
  3. Ignition ON.
  4. Test for 4.8 - 5.2 V between circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If greater than 5.2 V
    1. Test circuit 391 for a short to voltage.
      • If a short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If a short to voltage is not found.
    2. Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
    • If less than 4.8 V
    1. Test circuit 391 for a short to ground.
      • If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found.
    2. Test circuit 391 for an open/high resistance.
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
    3. Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
    • Go to next step: If 4.8 - 5.2 V
  5. Test or replace the S82 Windshield Wiper and Windshield Washer Switch.

Rear Window Wiper Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the connector at the M45 Rear Window Wiper Motor. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
  2. Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 1 and B+.
    • If test lamp does not illuminate

Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 2050 or ground connection

    • Go to next step: If test lamp illuminates
  3. Verify a test lamp illuminates between B+ circuit terminal 3 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate and circuit fuse is OK
    1. Test circuit 3040 for an open/high resistance.
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
    2. Refer to: Retained Accessory Power Malfunction
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate and circuit fuse is open
    1. Test circuit 3040 for a short to ground.
      • If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found.
    2. Replace the X53A Body Wiring Harness Junction Block - Rear.
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
  4. Replace the M45 Rear Wiper Motor.
