Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the fluid from the power transfer unit. Power Transfer Unit Case Fluid Replacement 
  2. Remove the propeller shaft. Propeller Shaft Replacement

    Remove and DISCARD the power transfer unit propeller shaft retainer (1).

    NOTE:
    • Remove the inner part of the seal first and then the outer part of the seal. Use care to prevent damage to the housing seal bore or shaft sealing surface. The seal is to be removed in two pieces.
    • Use a suitable flat bladed tool to remove the seal from the housing.

    Remove and DISCARD the power transfer unit output shaft seal (1).
