Circuit/System Description
The power steering control module continuously monitors the digital torque sensor's torque. As the steering wheel is turned and torsional twist is applied to the steering shaft, the steering input and output shafts are monitored via the torque signal circuit and then processed by the power steering control module to calculate the steering torque.
The power steering system contains two torque sensors for redundancy in order to limit situations where total loss of assist occur. If a malfunction occurs in only one of the two torque sensors, the power steering system will continue to provide steering assist.
